The client, a European high-end confectionary brand well known in the China market for their wide range of chocolate products, wanted to know the best practices of products development model in China from industrial perspective, and wanted an optimal product development model for the China confectionary market to gain more market share


Solutions

•    Evaluated the best industry practices of product development models at current stage and over the next 3-5 years

–Mapped the process flow of each best practice from phases to participators
–Evaluated the key stakeholders in each phases and gate models
–Identified the methods to evolve various product testing programs 


•    Identified best model for the client to implement

–Identified both baseline and long term strategies
–Mapping of approaches to launching new products, re-launch, and testing
–Evaluated key objectives and concepts of each stage


Methodology

•    Assessed 7 case studies including more successful and less successful ones, international and domestic ones to understand the pattern of the best business model for product development in China

•    Organized 1-week China trip for client to help them better understand the China market through guided visits and meetings with stakeholders
